How could this ever happen

In Ceres, California a Marine on leave wounded one police officer and killed another police officer using an SKS rifle. It was just reported on a Sacramento News channel that he had a felony conviction and possible gang ties prior to going in the military.
I would guess he was issued an M-16 and a sidearm. With a felony conviction it's illegal to posess a firearm am I not correct. Yet he was a marine in Irag?
 
Yep Im not suprised at all, The recruiters these days just have a quota and will recruit anybody to fill it. Its sad but Im one of the few Marines in my company that I know of with a truly clean record. We have scumbags that brag about the laws they used to break and quite a few prior drug users. Sigghhh I used to look up to the Marines before I joined now I know the truth. The USMC is not as noble as some might think. All in all im disgusted, thats why when my 4 years is over this year Im getting out, and good riddance. Oh yea and I forgot to mention the illegal immigrants in the USMC.

And what would such a ban mean to anyone willing to commit such crimes as described here?

By the same token, what would the honor of being a marine mean to such an individual?

Such things are lost on the criminally minded. And liberal legislators too it seems... :rolleyes:
 
Yes, hard to believe it happens..that guy is just a no good criminal/murderer. In my few years in the Army, I met quite a few who were "gang" members..out of L.A. for the most part. I did not appreciate having to serve alongside idiots like those...they were not hard to point out. There are many illegals in the military...here in Texas..they actively recruit them..you should see the recruiting commercials on television..spanish channels mostly..but they also get on with private security companies, police departments...I even had to work alongside them in federal law enforcement...but they had "gotten right" with Uncle Sam by then...that is, they took the illegal way in, stayed, worked the system.. and now they're the man..you know where there heart lies. Oh well.
