How could I repair this receiver?

Hey everyone

I need to repair (flatten/fill in the low spots) this receiver and stamp new letters into the receiver (in the same location). I have access to several welders and a mill. I am concerned that welding will distort the receiver.

Any Ideas?

You might be better off stamping the lettering on another piece of sheet steel and spot welding or brazing it to the receiver....

DO NOT weld on the receiver! It is only 1mm thick (stamped, 1.6mm milled) and is heat-treated to a specific hardness to reduce wear. Welding will soften the steel and the receiver will fail.

Yep, use as it or replace.

Paint it with krinkle paint. That might camouflage the gouges.

Never weld on a reciever.
I don't really see what it is you want to fill in anyway. Is that from removing the side mounted scope rail?

Its an Ak if you want you can repaint the reciever or get it pakerized which is a great finish. You can also paint on top of pakerizing and its even tougher.
