is one for a J-frame Smith?

I'm in the damnable 10 day wait for a cool 3" bbl Colt Detective Special and want to get a holster for it as it is too cool not to carry.

Thanks. :)

Don't try to cram a Colt into a J-Frame holster
Buy the right one to begin with unless you just want a generic nylon holster

If it's close it will say "also fits..."

I agree. But I'm having a helluva time finding a holster for a THREE inch old style Detective Special Colt.
Scarce bbl length in either Smith or Colt but Colts are WAY out of production.

Picture is a stock photo but I'll take one of mine when I get a chance.

The photos are wrong, but at the top of the page in the above link it does say Colt Detective Special. I realize a specific holster for a specific 3" is a tough one. However, there are a number of models on that page that are open ended. You might give them a call or shoot them an email just to be certain.

Also, you might fire up your google-foo and search out a custom holster builder- but that might run into some pretty big bucks... dunno. But regarding price- somebody on this forum said something that really stuck with me over the years. He made the analogy "Go ahead and buy a $20 helmet if you think you have a $20 head." It seems to rightfully apply real well to holsters too.

I've been googling for a few days.

Another forum has a fairly complete link source for MANY holster companies.
So far I haven't found any that "show" a model for the 6 shot cylinder of the Colt.
They all say "small revolver" and we all know what that can mean.

Today I am emailing a number of them to see if I can get a response indicating that they know there IS a difference in size.

Thanks....:)

You could
Buy a soft iwb holster, like the Bianchi model 6, for a 3" k frame
and order a holster made to fit from El Paso Saddlery.

Not a bad idea.
In fact, my "Plan B"

I can get the IWB softie and take off the clip.
Have a local leatherworker attach it to a piece of leather.

Dunno. Will see if I find something in a box at a shop or show.

I even have some extras laying around here that I don't know WHAT they fit.

Will keep trying.

Got the return email from Lobo.

That's where the holster will be ordered just as soon as my dumb 10 day wait is over. :)
