How can you trade guns long distance?

I have an offer to trade my Glock 30 for a G23. Everything sounds great but I'm not sure the best way to do this since he's about 1800 miles from me. I know how to ship a firearm but not sure how to make sure neither one of us stiffs the other.
Anyone done this or know how?

I wouldn't do it. You have no way of knowing if you will get stiffed. Also, even though it is a trade, it would have to be through FFL's. For the fees you will pay, you may be able to trade with a dealer.

Kinda like buying a house where you find a neutral party (escrow company) to hold the deed from the seller and the payment from the buyer.

Are either of you close to a nationwide and reputable dealer who would do this?

I don't think so. I'm in South Georgia and he's in Texas. I think after exchanging personal information and him having a receipt for the origional purchase date ( as do I) we will just go on trusting each other. I'll be checking out his information tomorrow.
