How can I make front sight post on FAl more visible?

Just zeroed my FAL.

--If it is dead on at 25m, would that make the far zero be at 150m or so?

--I keep losing the front post on the black bullseye. Had anyone found a way of making the sight more visible?

Really, paint it. Testes model paints (they even have bright neon colors) work well when sealed by an overcoat of clear fingernail polish. I have a Taurus 669 that I did this on four or five years ago and it hasn't even needed a touchup despite holster wear starting to eat the blueing in other places.

Oh..."Testors." I just KNEW I was using that stuff wrong...

;) :D ;)

And here's the culprit:

The damn rifle is too heavy for me, need to work out more.

I have the same problem.. I have found that shooting with both eyes open helps a little bit. I'm probably going to try some flourescent orange paint.

As for the FAL being heavy.. yeah. My full-size FAL with DSA scope mount and scope weighs about 12.5 lbs..

Nail polish will hold up better than the paint and comes in some bright shades. Plus nail polish remover will get it of if you want to change shades. :)

Oleg - I can't tell for sure from the pic - is there a bipod on your FAL? Is it built from an STG-58 kit? ( I expect the answer is "yes")

I love shooting from the bipod.

From the bipod, I get 6-8" groups at 100 yds on iron sights. That's emptying a full mag, reasonably rapid fire. Fire, reaquire/aim, fire, etc., 20 times.

And yes, they are heavy - I need to work out more, too.

For zeroing, see this thread on FAL files. Ted (EMDII) is a RKI, among others posting. We missed him a yesterday's FAL shoot here in GA.

I still love the comment I read either here or on the FAL Files boards. An FAL owner's friend, on being shown the FAL, looked it over, and proclaimed: "it looks like something a MAN should own." ;)
