How are you liking your M&P Shield?

I have been carrying mine for about three months and so far, liking it pretty well, I have fed it all kinds of ammo and it always goes bang.
Did a little guntography today. Not quite Guns & Ammo level yet but I am working on it and practicing.

It'll be my next purchase. Been looking for one sans thumb safety. I already have a holster and spare mags.

I've got the Shield 9mm with the manual safety as one of my CCW guns. I really like it. A lot of gun in a small package. I put Trijicon Night Sights on mine and she is a shooting fool.

I'm a newbie at CCW, only for a few months so far and I have to say, I like the idea of a manual safety. With a striker fired pistol, you are carrying a live round in the pipe and the striker is cocked. I have been working on thumb sweeping the safety upon presentation, so far in practice, no problems.

I am contemplating getting a Glock 36 though and I know with Glocks, no manual safety and you are walking around with one in the pipe and the striker cocked. Guess I just have to get used to it. I have good trigger discipline but in the heat of saving my own life, I just need to make sure that I keep my good trigger discipline.

I have gone through a dozen different carry guns and the Shield is hands down the best I have had so far. Perfect carry gun IMO. Small enough to conceal comfortably, and large enough to shoot well. I retired my Beretta M9A1 from nightstand duty and just use my Shield because I shoot it so well.

Just out of curiosity, does any one carry a shield 40? If so, how is the recoil on it? I fell in love with the feel of the shield and looking to make it my next purchase. While I am not extremely recoil sensitive, I would like it to be enjoyable to shoot...

BTW capy, I would use your photos in G&A if I was an editor.

I own and carry a Shield 9mm, but have shot a Shield .40. IMO small guns in this class shine with the 9mm. While the recoil was manageable with the .40, I shoot the 9mm much better. Not to mention you gain an extra round with the 9mm, and with limited capacity guns that extra round matters.

The .40 Shield with Apex kit and no safety is for very experienced handgunners. The recoil is manageable for an experienced shooter and is really easier with the extended mag....

Well a fly's butt is probably safe from mine.....but it is a darn fine carry weapon. I have M&P's in 3 variations in 9mm and like them all. The shield is just the right size pistol, shoots and functions just as you would want it to.

I have had my Shield for a few months now. About 600 rounds through it with 0 malfunctions. I am confident it is reliable and will be getting a holster for it soon so I can carry it. I did add the apex hard sear and really like the result. I put on the rubber Talon grips as well. One thing I put on, but then removed was the Pearce mag extension. I have it on some of my other guns, but on the Shield it made me shoot left of center. It must have had something to do with the fact that it is so thin.

Should have bought a Shield . . .

Shooters:

After lots of research (but apparently not enough) I recently bought a Beretta Nano. Well, I should have bought a Shield. The Nano, so far has a three percent fail to eject, and the rear sight fell off the first time I used it. You can't lock the slide back unless there is an empty mag in it and I'm having trouble getting use to the idea that there is one in the pipe and no external safety. yes, I know the trigger mechanism includes a safety that won't let it fire until the trigger is fully pulled. None the less I'm thinking I should have bought the Shield.

I don't have one, but everyone who does seems to love it. I don't think I have ever read a post written by someone who owned one and didn't like it.

I have a 40 shield I really like. At first it gave me problems shooting left but shooting it regularly took care of that. I have a 30% loss of grip strength due to a neurological problem, but I'm past that now. 180 grain Federal HST's

I'm still on the fence if I like my shield or not. I've had 2 FTE within the first 100 rounds. Not sure I want to trust me life with a gun that has failed like that. Haven't had any failures with the longer mag. Only the short one. Not sure if something might be wrong with it or what the problem may be. I wish glock made a comparable 9mm. I have a glock 17 with thousands of rounds thru it without the first failure yet.

Sweet shooter. Not uncomfortable to shoot 100-200 rnds at all. Only problem is i had a fte in the first 200 rounds.

I will need 200 rounds with no failures before i trust it as my EDC
