How are Steyr's compared to Sigs?

OK, I've all but settled on a SigPro SP2340. But a few people have told me to take a look at Steyr's. How are they? They seem pretty ergonomic like the Sigs.

Also, does Hogue make different handles for the SigPro?

Question 3, Breakfree or GLube? Which lub is the best and most effective?

Thanks!

Hello Twoblink; My expertise lies with Sig's.
The jury is still out on the SigPro seires;
kind'a like Glock's, you either love 'em or
you hate 'em? I would suggest staying within
the parameter's of the "P" series Sig's. They
will out perform ANY factory production weapon out there; day in and day out.

If you like superior craftsmanship, extreme
quality, super accuracy, and top notch
reliability; then choose a Sig-Sauer "P"
series handgun. I own four currently and
have been well pleased with the results
from each of the weapons in my personal
battery, that include: a P220A in .45ACP,
a P226 in 9m/m, a P228 in 9m/m, and a
P229 in .40S&W.

not knocking the steyr it looks to be a good gun, but first run problems are there, with the sig you get long standing quality and build that has passed the standard of time and durability. I like all makes of guns and think steyr will have a nice gun on their hands in time. good luck.

Hey gunrunner, I have had my Steyr GB for about 15 years and own 3 of their rifles. They have years of firearms experience. Now if you are referring specifically to the M, S, L, or XS series as being new, I wouldn't worry too much. The designer, Wilhelm Bubbits, worked for Glock and when Gaston didn't like his ideas for improvements he went to work for Steyr.

twoblink;

Sigs are great guns for many reasons. I've owned the SIG P220 and P229. The P220 was one of the most accurate pistols I've owned. The P229 was not as impressive in my hands accuracy wise, but was well put together and flawlessly reliable. You can't go wrong by choosing a SIG.

However, if I were to compare the Sig P229 to the Steryr M-40, the Steyr would come out on top. The ergonomics of the Steyr as well as its' safety options make it a better choice for me. I also favor the simple trigger mode of the Steyr and its' grip angle.

Looks like you've made up your mind and chose a SIG. Hey, I ain't mad atcha. Good choice and good luck.

Since you asked about either the Sigpro or the Steyr M series, that's all I'll mention here.

sigpro: I've had two of them, one in .40 and one in 357 SIG. Excellent gun. I wrote a little review of it on the unofficial sig page.

The main reason I jumped to the Steyr M pistol is the trigger, ergonomics, and safety system. I prefer a short stroke consistent trigger pull over the da/sa trigger. Yes, both are excellent triggers. The Steyr is a bit smaller than the sigpro, yet it has a slightly longer barrel at 4 inches.

I have to admit that the Steyr is my favorite pistol now. The Steyr quality is excellent. The early model Steyr M40 I have works fantastic after getting the ejector port fix done. All new models as of the end of Feb or early March will have this fix as a standard. If you want more info on the Steyr, read my review at: http://www.win.net/~sydwdn/1911/1911.htm then click on the blue library pointer and then click on the reviews pointer on the right of the menu.

If you can, shoot both and field strip both to see how you like them. Both are excellent guns.
