How about somebody making up some TFL patches?

T-shirts are cool, but I sure wish somebody would make up some TFL patches that we could sew on our shooting vests and such. The guys over at subguns.com had some made up a while back and they only cost about 3 dollars each plus S/H. We could even charge a dollar more than the cost of the patch, with the extra going to some worthy cause of our choice.

What do you guys think? Who wants to get the ball rolling? :)

That or caps.

The stumbling block would be the minimum qty the manufacturer would want.

It would be interesting if, out of over 5,000 "members", Correia could tell us how many actually ordered those T-shirts.

I think Patches would be a great idea! Hey if any of those t-shirts are still available I would be interested in purchasing one, As my schedule has me out and about quite a bit for Extended periods (up to 6 months at a time away from home) I tend to miss out sometimes. Any chance of still getting one?
As for the patches, did we want them to look just like the Logo in the upper left?

...“ They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.” --Benjamin Franklin, Historical Review of Pennsylvania, 1759.

Whereas, to preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them; nor does it follow from this, that all promiscuously must go into actual service on every occasion. The mind that aims at a select militia, must be influenced by a truly anti-republican principle; and when we see many men disposed to practice upon it, whenever they can prevail, no wonder true republicans are for carefully guarding against it.

:o I didn't order a T-shirt. I'm sorry, but I had no reason not to.
If the opportunity pops up again, I'll try to be first in line, and if the patches or a cap hits the market, count me in.

Patches are the way to go... they can easily be sewn or glued on the cap of your choice. Yea, I think the patches should look just like the logo in the upper left corner. I think it would look real cool on a BDU type shirt right above the left pocket!

Having just done TRT patches I can offer some advice.....these are iron on patches which are done with embroidery....if the powers at TFL want more info you can EMail me

I'm not much of a fan of logo apparel, but a TFL patch would look great on my range bag ...

I would want one if anyone decides to do this. Plus if Larry ever decides to do more shirts, hint hint, I would get one now, I couldn't before.

Let's do it! Hey, you can only wear a shirt for a day or two before it has to washed. But, put a patch on a hat and it there to be seen all the time.

Terri and I did quite a bit of research on this a few weeks ago. OK....actually we talked with over a dozen different embroidery shops. To begin the process a disk must be created in the size and design desired. The cost of having the TFL logo (4"X6") as seen in the upper left corner with a thin red border (so it can be sewn on black or dark colored clothing) is from $150 to $250 depending on number of stitches per inch (detail) and the number of planned order. The disk than becomes the property of the person ordering it made. There are different embroidery "machines" and they are not all compatable. Therefore one may have someone with another machine use their disk to do more embroidery later if the machine is compatable. The cost of having the logo and the user name over the breast pocket done on a shirt or jacket is from $6 to $20 depending on the cost of the disk, stitches per inch and embroider.

I'll roll the ball.

Some ideas:
I am thinking of a patch about 1.75" by 6" rectangular patch using the forum page logo, similar to the shirts. A patch that will be sewable onto a bag or vest/jacket or hat.
What do folks think?

Thanks to Gunslinger on some idea of what is required on the front end.

I'll do some investigation this week on minimum order quantities, etc. Hopefully we can keep the cost below $4.00 per patch.

I would suggest we stick to paying exact costs, including mailing/shipping.

Rich - do you have any objections? I'll email you separately also.

Hey thanks for all of the support and great info. I just don't have the time to be in charge of this thing, besides there are others out there who are more knowledgeable on this subject than me.

If we go for this idea, let's get some quality patches even if they cost a bit more than the el cheapo route. After all, we will be ambassadors for The Firing Line. ;)

Sincerely,
Joe

Patches hmmmm... I think the shirts were enough work last time.

Last time I sold approximately 140 shirts.

I'm sensing a little bit of interest in another batch of shirts. I think that I will put up a thread and see if there is enough interest to make it worth it.
