How about a trigger swap?

I was looking at some photos of older S&W revolvers with stainless triggers and hammers, and wondered if any of these stainless triggers would replace the MIM trigger on my new 642? Also, were the firing pins on the older revolvers pinned into the hammer? Is this an advantage or a disadvantage (I know, a subjective question)? Thanks in advance!!!

The true stainless triggers weren't used very long. there was a problem with galling I think. What youo see are carbon steel triggers that have been flash chromed.
I've never compared the triggers so I don't know if one could replace the other.
The firing pin is riveted to the hammer face on the older hammers. If there is a functional difference I don't know of it.
