HOUSTON, PASADENA, BAYTOWN GUN OWNERS: HELP DEFEAT KEN BENTSEN!

Fed up with antigun crusaders? In November, Houston area gun owners have a chance to defeat Congressman Ken Bentsen, an avowed enemy of gun ownership and shooting sports. Gun Owners of America gave Bentsen an "F" rating, which defines him as a "philosophically committed anti-gunner." The NRA has endorsed Bentsen's challenger, Phil Sudan, and has listed the race as one of their handful of targeted races for Texas.

Bensen represents the 25th Congressional District, which runs from Southwest Houston through Pasadena, Deer Park and Baytown. This means that some of the most gun-friendly areas in greater Houston are represented by one of the most antigun members of the Texas delegation.

Bentsen's opponent, Phil Sudan, has promised to oppose any further antigun legislation and to vote to nullify any further bogus lawsuits against the gun industry. Sudan's campaign needs money, people willing to put up yard signs and, most of all, VOLUNTEERS who are willing to spend a few hours a week fighting the antigun juggernaut.

This is a chance for Houston area TFLers to take POSITIVE ACTION. Remember, you don't have to be in the district to give time or money. Call 713-520-1967 or check www.philsudanforcongress.com.

The NRA is our shield, the GOA will be our sword.

Is Ken Bentson the son of Lloyd Bentsen? The name rings a bell. The other day, I was in a radio store and a guy there was talking about being in the Air National Guard at the same time as GW, and he also said that Lloyd Bentsen's son was in the unit too. Actually, he said there were very few people in his unit that didn't have famous parents, or serious connections. He said GW was always fun to hang around, and Lloyd Bentsen's son was a real schmuck who never let anyone forget who his daddy was. So maybe we're talking about the same Bentsen. Anyway, while the most gun friendly part of the state may be the E. Houston area, there are a bunch of folks down there who are Yellow Dog Democrats. When passing through Baytown, take a whif- that smell isn't oil refineries, it's the smell of civil war gunpowder. Those folks have long memories. I certainly hope that Mr. Bentsen is soundly defeated, but I wonder if it is possible. Might be better to run a pro-gun democrat in the area to beat Mr. Bentsen during primaries. Given the choice, a pro-gun Democrat could do some dammage in E. Texas. Heck, I thought of running as a Democrat in Ron Pauls district when he retires just so I could get elected. It is amazing that he gets the votes he does. Those people are fanatic over Dr. Paul, yet in most of his district's counties, you wont find a lot of Republicans elected for local office. In some areas, like Lavaca County, there are no Republicans on the local level.
