House Democrats to switch to the Republican party, a more pro-gun House coming

Choose to believe this or not. Our insiders at the Republican Convention have learned about a deal to insure Republican control of the House after the November elections in case of a close outcome. Only ABC news has had even a blurb by such insider moves. Having some conservative Democrats switch sides is one of the key elements. News at the "cross roads" icon at:

What never ceases to amaze me is the lack of vision and foresight of the Democrats. Don't they realize the number of votes they could pick up were they to get off of their stupid ant-gun stand?? Don't they realize that a pro gun position will certainly result in maintaining their power AND our constitutional rights while avoiding serious bloodshed?

The Democrats will still want to spend your money and have government care for you from cradle to grave. I don't think so!

Gary H;
I want to have a 32 hour work week, I want to have 30 days paid vacation per year, I want time off to care for my children when they are sick, I want to retire at 55 and enjoy the remainder of my life, I want less taxes, I want affordable homes, I want equal rights and I want my gun rights. I work hard and have served my country honorably. Why don't I deserve that?

I want a new mercedes and a cadillac and an 18,000,000 sq ft house and a yacht and a personal medical team and A BUNCH of spending money and a 30 minute work week and 51 weeks vacation and a little dog too. (No, I'm not running for President) :D

Too much government now. They're in my wallet, medicine cabinet, gun safe, and just about everywhere I want to be. They're worse than VISA.

I want freedom.

I'm glad the Dems are switching, but that does not garuntee a pro-freedom congress, Even with a GOP majority. But it does improve the odds.

We need a viable third party, it seems, for people like me and others here who don't toe the party line of the other two, or swallow their dogma whole. I'm all confused... I'm either a compassionate conservative or a conservative Democrat! the gun issue and a few others have tilted me towards the Repub. side... I'm tired of being vilified as a gun owner by a bunch of rich, limousine liberals like FrankenFeinstein (who, an IRS special agent told me, is married to a mob-affiliated guy, and who is the richest senator).

I too, am tired of the Feds' encroachment into every aspect of our lives, and not necessarily for the better. Of the people, by the people, and FOR the people? Doesn't seem that's what we're getting, does it? Or, as some cynics say, have we gotten the government we deserve?

I'm a Libertarian, so out of my pocket and out of my bedroom.

You deserve what you work hard for and provide for yourself. Whenever you depend on government you loose some of your freedom. I pay 60% of my earnings in taxes..including use tax, SSI, state...blah blah blah. I want to pay less taxes. Government uses that money to pass more laws in order to distribute my hard earned dollars. Your vote for a new form of the dole is the beginning of the end of democracy. It will eventually destroy this country. Government should provide basic services..period! Now, we can argue as to what a basic service might be. Your vacation and retirement is not one in my book.

All I want our federal government to do is what is listed in the constitution.. ie... coin money, protect our shores, keep the states from going to war over trade between them, deliver our mail.... and stay the hell out of our business...

The debate is not about guns,
but rather who has the ultimate power to rule,
the People or Government.

It seems to me that the big fools are the Republicans whose major stumbling block is abortion. While gun-rights may be the ONE ISSUE for us, abortion is like that for a lot of women.

I think what keeps them from switching is more of a "saving face" issue than one of moral obligation.

There are two types of men: those with guns, and those at their mercy.

I suspect this is just the survival instinct of those Democrats kicking in. Perhaps they sense a near-term political catastrophe for their party and are jumping ship.

Their inner feeling remain the same.

Mikul: "While gun-rights may be the ONE ISSUE for us, abortion is like that for a lot of women."

Yeah, that's true. And according to the polls, a lot more of those women are pro-life than pro-choice. The actual position of the Republican party with respect to abortion is one HECK of a lot more popular with the public than the actual position of the Democratic party; The "Abortion is murder from the moment of conception!" people do not even remotely control the GOP, while the "Abortion is is a religous sacrament which can't be regulated even after the child is born!" lunatics OWN the Democrats.

The Republicans suffer somewhat from a ham-handed expression of their position, and a good deal more from a deliberately dishonest portrayal of it in the media, but abandoning that position would NOT be a political winner.

NationalCCW: And the pro-lifers probably think the same of us. Truth is, it would be political suicide for the GOP to abandon either group. This "Betray them!", "No, betray THEM!" stuff must be music to the Democrats' ears.
