Hottest 10 mm

Who loads the fastest (for the weight) 10 mm hollowpoint ammunition?
Right now, it looks like Texas Ammunition, with their 10 mm Express. They have a 200 grain, 1250 ft/sec load.
I do understand the fallacy in looking for a "magic bullet" in handguns, but I figure every little bit helps.

By published data (for whatever that's worth :D ):

Fastest 135gr: Pro Load, 1440 ft/sec
Fastest 155gr: Georgia Arms, 1375 ft/sec
Fastest 165gr: Texas Ammunition, 1350 ft/sec
Fastest 180gr: Pro Load, 1200 ft/sec
Fastest 200gr: Texas Ammunition, 1250 ft/sec

Most powerful overall is probably Cor-Bon's 180gr JSP hunting load... 1320ft/sec for just under 700 ft-lbs from a 4.6" Glock.

I can hear WS2's evil laugh all the way here in Florida. I'm almost afraid to ask about his nonpublished load data on a 10mm.:)

I"ve seen loads published on GlocKTalk 10mm forum = 135 grain JHP pushed at over 1700fps using 800 X powder.

Soon as get enough money, going back to 10mm in a 1911...:)

Based on factory published velocity claims (which WESHOOT2 doesn't have on his site last I checked, so he isn't inlcuded :p ) I think what I said is 100% correct. If you should believe velocities at the box flap or not is a whole other issue. It goes without saying that if you include handloads or custom-made ammo the answer is pretty much unknowable other than "real fast," especially if it is a 610 or Contender-only load. :D

The Cor-Bon 180gr SP and discontinued (but still available if you call and ask real nice) 180gr JHP are about the hottest comercial 10mm ammo. In my experiance, Cor-bon seems to be more honest with their box-flap velocity clames than most. With the 180gr Sp's I usualy get 1350fps from my stock barreled glock 20. Most of the 9mm Cor-bons I have tested rate higher velocitys that the box flap as well.
As far as Tim's Maximum Thrust ammo and custom "proof loads"...they are just plain nuclear. See thread: Gray Area Ammo (10mm) vs. Gelatin

The biggest surprise is RBCD with a 10 mm @77 grains going 2410 ft/sec. It seems light for the cross sectional area, but at those velocities hydrostatic shock will damage organs. I wonder is it gets any penetration?
They claim 12" penetration on the website. I would like to see actual proof though.

Has anyone tried that RBCD ammo? Has anyone actually won free ammo by being the Nth visitor to their website?

My Corbon 180gr JHPs say 1300 FPS on the flap.

And Winchester Silvertips aren't too shabby, either. I stocked up on them when Natchezs had a sale - I think I paid about $7/50.

RBCD ammo.

Just FYI: in RBCD's Platinum Plus line of calibers, they offer a 10mm/77gn load @ 2420 fps giving 1015ft-lbs of energy. This is the highest fps and ft-lbs in their entire line of civilian defensive ammo. Gives a new spin to "light & fast."

An article on the Platinum Plus loads currently appears in GunWorld (June, 2002), which Cirillo wrote, and in which he used a Glock 20 to test the impact results of the 10mm load on clay blocks (among other calibers tested).

Anyway, I did a post on Cirillo's article over on GT's 10Ring, for those interested. :)
