Juan , take a deep breath and tell me what you are looking for and I'll try to point you in the right direction. ernest2

Ernest2, I have seen a marlin rifle offered for sale which the owner says " he is not sure of its history" He let me copy off the s/n and if I want it he will see me at the next Del Mar show. I have previously seen here URLs to websites which let you see whether a number has been reported as stolen or not. Those URLs are what I am looking for.

Anyone have any others? that says right that it is a rather incomplete listing. I know that the police can run a number in nothing flat; you'd think that they would have the data available on the net, in the interest of reducing traffic in hot guns, if nothing else.
