Hot Leverevolution Rounds....

I shot the 45/70 today with Leverevolution rounds (325 grains @ 2200 fps.) where fellow gunners told me "those will beat you up since you are used to shooting the regular factory loads". Not that bad of a difference. Pretty impressive accuracy however!

Marlin 1895.....

First groupings @ 100 yrds. (3 shots) averaging 2-3 inches. Slightly to the right of center.....adjusting scope and more reports coming.

So you are getting 150 fps more out of them than Marlin claims? That is quite unusual. Generally the manufacturer's specs are quite generous, in part because the velocity comes from a lab test barrel and it is often longer than what most of the guns are.

With a bit of practice, you can probably get MOA accuracy from the rounds. The 1895 and Leverevolution .45/70 ammo seems to be a very good combination and very accurate out to 200 yards (furthest we have tested it). Plus, it is very reasonably priced.

Kreyzhorse is right in that it isn't the hottest ammo around. We get about 1900 fps out of our Marlins with it. However, it only costs about $1.25 a round instead of being $3, 4, or $4.50 a round like with some of the ammo he noted. About the only factory ammo I find that is less is Cowboy action loads.
