Hi,I just picked up a action that looks like a Mauser 1891 but it was made buy Hopkin & Allen Has you seen these before any info would be great Thanks Brian Gertsch.

Brian, while I've never seen one, H&A did market a 5 shot bolt action .22 and a single shot bolt action. I don't know what they might look like but every centerfire that I can find were rolling block. The Blue Book has the history on the .22s. If you know that it is a centerfire you might go to Harley's section and see what he can tell you about it. George

Hopkins and Allen Arms Company of Norwich, Conn. did make Model 89 Mausers, apparently for the Belgian army during WW1. These should look much like the Model 91 Mauser. I have never seen one. See Ludwig Olson, Mauser Bolt Rifles, though he doesn't say any more than what I have provided above.

Herodotus,

Thanks. That had been nagging me since I read the posting. I knew they made some military rifle but couldn't recall for whom. That rifle should be pretty uncommon, at least over here.

Jim
