Hornady XTP?

I have always been one that recommends 230 Gr hydrashoks and Golden saber for .45.
Recently a friend of mine who works at a gun shop recommended Hornady 230 gr +P JHP.
Well I took some to the range the other day and I must say that they were some of the sweetest shooting rounds I have shot in a self defence round. They were overall very comfortable to shoot and had less recoil and muzzle flash than some standard load FMJ rounds I have fired.
Also reliability was 100% and accuracy was superb.
Anyone else have similar experience with this load? I am now using it as m,y main carry load.

My wife carried Hornady 200g XTP's in her Officer's ACP and had good luck with them as far as accuracy and reliability was concerned. I had a chance to try some under low light conditions and they had considerably more muzzle flash than the Speer 200g JHP she used to carry (didn't always feed with that short bullet).

Despite the muzzle flash, she plans to carry the Hornady's in her new Glock 36.

PS: this is not the +P load. I don't care for +P in the 45 ACP. It made it's enveable reputation on standard pressure Ball. I see no need for jacking up something that works already. Just my opinion.

Interesting.
I prefer Hornady loads in rifle calibers. I have not tried Hornady loads in .45. This - I will remedy.
I have been quite taken with the SPEER LAWMAN 230 grain FMJs when not shooting the mighty Hydras. They seem to have the same point of impact and feel as the Hydras - thus making a fine training/practice round.

I don't shoot hadgun at present, but I'm super-impressed with the Hornady in my rifle.

They do what they say they're going to do! You can't ask more than that.

Bought some recently and it's worked perfectly in my .380 and my .45. As stated above, very reliable and accurate. Hornady also has a strong stance on RKBA. Check out their website.
