Hornady Trimmer

I finally got my Hornady Trimmer dialed in to the exact length I wanted. I noticed inside the case necks there is some scoring marks from the head of the pilot that goes inside the case neck.

Will this affect anything? I did take a steel brush and spun the pilot around it to clean it off and take care of any burrs.

I trimmed some new cases and they are not as bad.

I’ve had this happen with my Lyman. I just chucked the pilots in a drill and put some Flitz on a rag and wrapped the rag around them and spun them until polished nice and smooth. It took a while but this eliminated the problem for me.

Try dipping the necks in powdered graphite before mounting them. Regular case lube also works, but you'll have to clean it off afterward if you want your necks dry.
