Was out at our "Hillbilly Range" last Friday practicing long distance (300, 500, 700 and 800 yards) with my 700 XCRII in 300 win mag. I've settled on using the Hornady Superformance ammo because I really like the speed and ballistics. On about my 8th shot the rifle wouldn't feed all the way into the chamber and prevented me from closing the bolt. Unfortunately we couldn't grab the cartridge from the back and didn't have a cleaning rod with us so my day was done with that rifle.
When I got home I was able to easily poke it back out with very gently pressure on the cleaning rod and found this: http://hornadysuperformance300win.shutterfly.com/
I think I'm glad it didn't chamber!
I guess I learned two things:
1) Always carefully inspect all ammunition.
2) Always bring a cleaning rod to the range.
