Hornady Rapid Safe

I really am not hot on something that requires an item of jewelry to be worn in order to operate it, especially something like a handgun safe.

What if the band slips off during sleep/sex and get lost in the bed cloths? Then what?
 
it's not for me, but I see it's value. the one thing that I could see to improve it would be to use a rechargeable backup battery that charges as it's plugged in. so if you need it and the power is out and you happen to have dead batteries you won't need to fumble with the keys. that's assuming though that the keypad needs power, if it is mechanical than I guess no biggie
 
If you do lose the band, the key pad is still pretty quick to get in.
The key pad is not mechanical but when the power goes out, the safe goes into a stand by mode in which no lights or anything is on but it still is operational. The batteries last a pretty good while. I have used it on batteries for a few days and many openings and I am still on the same batteries.

I do appreciate the feedback.

The only safe I would consider is a safe that only opens with a hand/fingerprint
these safes can be made to accept one or two different people. This type of safe comes in all shapes and sizes and most safes can be retro fitted to accept the new technology and this is not IMHO. This is the real deal. My old safe had the dial combo stuff and I had it retro fitted. Yes ( Skizzums) these safes use ac/dc adapters or batteries. But like my smoke detector, I change the batteries once a year.

And then if you cut your finger it can't be opened

Stick with mechanical locks for fewer problems

As to the concern about cutting or damaging your finger, the biomechanical/fingerprint ones will accept multiple fingerprints...so multiple family members can get access with their prints...OR a single person can store prints from multiple fingers.

Fair enough. That's why the Hornady safe MIGHT be a good option in that, if the RFID technology fails, the safe can still be accessed via a key pad. Granted, these are both electronic mechanisms that can fail, but at least there is less of a chance failure...or so one would think. That safe also has a key access feature, but it doesn't seem very rapid.
