Hornady Light Magnum .308 question

This ammo says right on the box "not to be fired in semi-autos", but I wonder if an HK91/G3/SAR-8 would be an exception? In Tim Mullin's book "Testing The War Weapons" he says of the G3 "...the stronger the ammunition the stronger the roller-locking system will hold." Is this correct?

If I see TJ, I'll ask him...

My take on it is that cartridges which use a LOT of slow powder, such as a .308 loaded with 4350, will maintain a longer pressure curve. Hence, while the weapon is cycling, it gets significantly more pressure through the gas system than it needs. The abovementioned .308/4350 load will wreck the op rod on an otherwise perfectly good M1. Personally, I'd just use 'em in bolt rifles that you know are strong enough to handle 'em.
