Hornady expander

The Hornady powder through expander for 45 acp says .451 diameter, is this enough expansion to load cast 45 acp bullets which I am thinking are .452 ?

The .355 and .40 PTX expanders can flare the case out waaay past .355 and .40 inches so I would imagine that the .451 does the same. I had no problem loading cast bullets in my .380 and I believe they were .356 or .358.

The PTX insert looks like a dome with a hole in the middle. The base of the dome is much bigger than the nominal caliber listed, giving you a lot of adjustment room to flare your case as much or as little as you want.

The .452 according to Hornady is for lead.
I have both and in my opinion the .452 is for .45 Colt since the expander body is much shorter than on the .451 meaning it fits a longer cartridge.
I don't reload .45 Colt but I do have some brass at home I can verify with tonight.

That's why you need an M-die with Hornady and 45 ACP. I still use the expander in the powder measure, because there are fewer powder leaks with that form of injection into the case. I just set it for little to no flare, whatever it takes to just operate the powder measure.

Thank you for the replies, I appreciate it.
Has anyone used the powder funnel for powder through expanding ?
It says it expands everything from 30 cal to 50 cal. with just one expander.
