Hornady Custom HPXTP 140gr

Greetings All-

Anyone here have any experience with this round? 140gr at 1350fps for 600 ft/lbs sounds like a nice round. I guess it might be a bit snappy, but I'm interested as I can find it online for $20/50rds.

Another good looking round is the Black Hills JHP, 125gr, 1500fps for 625 ft/lbs. Those are going for $17.50/50rds.

Either one of these good for carry, or are they overkill?

I'll probably just stick with the 125gr Speer Gold Dots, but I like trying new things; especially when they're cheaper!

Generally speaking 400+/- fpe makes for a good defense round. Over 600fpe I think the bullet tends to exit.
