Hornady brass

There was a time that Hornady brass marked frontier was made by Winchester, but they sold their brass cartridge business a few years ago, the rest is made in Grand Island by the Hornady company.

I haven't bought any Hornady since I began reloading again. Is it still headstamped Frontier or is it Hornady now?

Well...
As of last week, it was just Hornady for the head stamp.

However, Hornady just announced the return of Frontier ammunition, loaded in the Lake City plant, with LC brass.

So:
Hornady and LC, soon.

I don't know about any Frontier/Winchester cross-over. The reason Frontier Cartridge was formed by Hornady was specifically for ammunition and brass production (initially using LC brass, just like the reincarnation - later producing their own, before transitioning to the Hornady head stamp).

I bought Hornady brass as loaded ammo in 223 Varmint loads. The cartridges were fine to shoot, but I was not very impressed with the brass. Off center primer holes to name one. I lump it in with my Fiocchi, Radway and mystery brass for tame 55 fmj loads.
