Hoppes No9. Nitro solvent 7 Benchrest No. 9..how good are these?

Hi everyone. I have 1 or 2 simple & short questions. Hoppes No 9. Nitro powder solvent.. and benchrest No. 9 (Hoppes copper solvent) how good are these two in removing lead and copper respectively from gun barrels? I understand both these solvents are quite mild but if used over and over will they do a good job of removing lead and copper?

i just want to remove lead and copper from my pistols and rifle and made the mistake of buyoing both these solvents in a largew quantaty... so i wnat to know if these wolvents are good or have i just wasted lots of money on crap?

i also have a little clenzoil with me if anyone's used it, please let me know if its any good at removing any kind of fouling like carbon, lead or copper. Thanks guys.

It's great for normal cleaning. If you have a really, really fouled barrel, the foam stuff is great. Saves on elbowgrease. But regular Hoppes is cheaper and fine for average cleaning tasks.

The big jugs are not a waste of money, they last forever. I inherited a jug of the old formula (with benzene and tentacle-growing 50's stuff) and I already had a jug of the new stuff. I think I'm in good shape for solvent for about the next 50 years. You better get to like it, you may have those jugs for the rest of your life.

Just make sure you give the solvent time to work. I usually let the solvent stay in the barrel for at least 2-3 hours sometimes more if the barrel is really fouled. I agree with the above post. I have a large bottle with about half left from 16 years ago.
