Hooded rear sight any good?

I have a FAL with the standard rear sight. Is it worthwhile to replace it with a rear sight with hooded aperture?

What are the benefits and drawbacks of a hooded sight?

thanks

One of the benefits of a hooded rear sight is it allows for the blockage of light, thus your view will be clearer as you peep through the aperture.

Seems like a good idea to me. The National Match rear sight on an M1, or an M14, is a hooded apature, (With 1/2 MOA elevation adjustment included.) and it is the BEST IRON SIGHT EVER OFFERED ON ANY RIFLE, EVER!
