Honest appraiser in SW Ohio?

Folks, I know next to nothing about firearms so I really could use some advice. I have two pieces -- a rifle and a pistol -- that belonged to my grandfather. I want to have them appraised and was hoping someone could recommend a good appraiser in the Southwest Ohio/Northern Kentucky area.

Also, would there be any value in having the pieces appraised by two different sources? You folks would likely know instinctively if an appraisal was too high or too low, but I don't have that knowledge base.

Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

Just a suggestion, call your insurance agent and ask them for a recommendation. Of course you will most likely have to pay for the appraisal service if you want paper for future use- ie replacement insurance value. If you are just looking for a sale range, get a copy of the Blue Book of Gun Values or check out G broker.com.

A little more info posted on the subject items might get you some info....

I've finally had time to take a couple of photos of one of the firearms I have. The weapon belonged to my grandfather. I believe it dates from the 1930s or 1940s. My father told me many times that only a handful of shells had been fired from the gun.

I would be grateful for any information that you folks would be willing to provide me about this piece. Thank you.
