Homer buys a gun.....

Have any of you seen this episode of the Simpsons? It is rather controversial in my opinion. It paints gun owners as total nuts on one hand, and yet gun owners in the end are the responsible ones that save the day. Marge's action at the end was a bit suprising too..

Just thought I'd see what ya'all thought.

I saw that one too. Agree that it went both ways. I think the net was bad tho.

Yep, I saw it. I was pleasantly surprised, actually, as I thought it was going to be a LOT worse than it was.

Yeah, my feeling coming out of it was that it was rather negative. Still, I must give it some benefit of the doubt, considering the Simpsons is satirical about a lot of things, not just guns.

When I first saw that episode I didn`t like it at all but after seeing it several more times I realized that it was pretty equal to both sides. Homer was chastised for his extremely reckless gun handling and kicked out of his own home by the folks at the NRA meeting etc. Throughout the episode the only people in danger from guns were through reckless handling and ignorance (mostly on Homer`s part). The pro gunners represented a good cross section of the folks in Springfield who although zealous about their guns and gun rights were never a danger to anyone and in the end were in fact a help. The background check in the "Bloodbath and Beyond" gunshop even pointed out the futility of pointless or unenforced background checks and waiting periods. Most of it was just typical Simpsons humor. Just remember,"Guns are for killing dangerous or delicious animals and keeping the king of England off our backs!"-Krusty the Clown. :D Marcus

Yeah, and Marge keeping the gun after Homer throws it away makes you do a double take. Still, antis are really stupid and wouldn't likely give this the thought you have and just assume it was absolutely completely anti-gun.

You know that Homer will make anything look dangerous. This is the guy who caused a nuclear meltdown in a truck that had no radioactive material inside. :D

Homer tried to fix a toaster and messed up the future by accidentally inventing a time machine.
