Homegrown automatic throwers anyone?

I'm in the market for one a' them automatic skeet thrower machines. You know the kind - load a bunch of skeet in it, turn it on, it swings left to right, operator mashes button to release skeet at will.

I've done searches for automatic skeet throwers, and suddenly I'm in the mood for my ol' $30 Wal-Mart cheapo mechanical throwers.

$3000, $4000, $5000+?!?:eek: :( :D I'll buy a full auto M16 before I shell out that kinda doe!!:D

Question: Any of y'all cheap bastards like myself come up with a automatic thrower you made yourself? Got any plans or ideas you'd care to pass along to the wallet-challenged? Have any other ideas for making the backwoods clay circuit more challenging?
 
Think they are expensive, try running a clays course and try keeping them running.

There are a couple of "Cheap" ones on the market, cheap in this case being around $1500 each. But they are not built to take a lot of abuse.

Think about the cost of equipment next time yu complain about the cost of shooting clays at a formal range. Now you know why.
 
What about an Outers trap machine, a case or two of birds and a 12 YO to operate it? Sounds pretty automatic to me......... :D
 
I use the "bring a friend" method. In fact, I just introduced another newbie to the addiction of clay hunting this past weekend and he was a natural at tossing the clays. :)
I asked him if his arm hurt from shooting over the weekend and he said no but it hurt from tossing clays.
I guess I should not have insisted on "demonstrating" so much while he threw for me. ;)

I've got an Outers trap but I actually prefer the cheapo plastic thingy with the golf club handle. faster to load and more options on launch. I find launching with the golf trap less tiring than all that bending and cocking/loading on the outers.
Cant help ya with anything more sophisticated.
