Home Invaders Kill Elderly Lady for her Lincoln

Well, it has happened again! Another elderly woman murdered for her car. A home invasion last year resulted in the murder of an elderly widow lady. The only thing that was stolen was her new Cadillac. After the suspect was caught driving that Cadillac around town, he told the police someone gave him the car!

In today's news we have yet another case:

OZARK, AL - An Ozark teen charged in the beating death of an elderly woman in her home over the weekend had his first appearance in court Thursday.

Casaderek L. Sweet, 16, was arrested Tuesday in Blountstown, FL, and brought back to Alabama to face capital murder and burglary charges in the death of 73-year-old Lurleen W. Dean. The youth was arrested while driving Dean's 1993 Lincoln Town Car, which he stole from her residence.

Also facing capital murder charges is a 15-year-old juvenile who was arrested in Ozark Wednesday morning. The process to have him certified as an adult to stand trial on murder charges has begun.

Sweet and the juvenile are charged with the murder of Dean. She was allegedly attacked in her Logan Road home by the two teens Friday night after they broke into her house through a rear window.

The teens told police they broke in to get her car keys. It is believed Sweet was trying to get back to Tallahassee, FL, where he has family.

After breaking into the house, the teens assaulted Dean by hitting her on the side of her head with a blunt object (believed to be a baseball bat). She died two days later from her injuries. ....

The case from last year and the current case have much in common. Both were home invasions, both were committed by teenagers, the victims were both elderly widow ladies, both victims were beaten to death, and the objective was to steal a car. Also in both cases, the perpetrator was caught driving the stolen automobile. Beyond that, the perpetrators come from "messed-up" family situations and are of a racial minority.

These "troubled youth" have an attitude that ... if they want something, then they can just take it ... without consequences. If you get in their way, they'll just kill you.

Since senior citizens are being targeted, maybe it is time to start arming and training them to resist such attacks. Next time you go to the gun range, consider taking an elderly person with you.

It is time to declare war on home invaders.
 
[Sarcasm on.] The ability of a baseball-bat-wielding thug to overpower an unarmed senior citizen confirms the validity of AARP's endorsement of gun control. If the elderly lady had had a gun, she would have been much more at risk. Why, the youngster with the baseball bat might have taken the gun away from her and shot her with it, in which case, she would be deader than she is. So, in order to protect our seniors, we must have common sense gun control. If you're over 50, join AARP today, and help make sure that hundreds of thousands of elderly citizens fear for their lives in their own homes! [Sarcasm off.]

Already done. Standard procedure at our household is that home invaders will be shot.

The two real problems in a case like this are:

1. Elderly folks living with poor household security may as well hang out a "victim" flag. Maybe a gun would have helped her, but a protective dog, a set of burglar bars and a panic-button alarm might have done better. Older folks come from a simpler and more trusting era, and need a healthy dose of realism and some help establishing security.

2. The increasing number of feral punks. This is caused primarily by parental incompetence and encouraged by a system that treats a vicious, brutal habitual criminal as a poor little kid because he's only 16.

I like your use of the term 'feral' to describe these scum- as in left untended (by their parents) and allowed to run wild and become uncivilized.
THe thought of that happening to my grandmother or parents makes me ill.
I often remark that we are training a generation of sociopaths who don't understand the concept of consequences and have no compunction about harming other people to get what they want. I have a student who is ALWAYS fighting with someone. A few weeks ago she stabbed her sister in the leg. What did her mother do? NOTHING!
I have a number of students who I can tell you will end up dead or in a cage... hopefully before they cause too much damage.

feral is good,but , it implies that these individuals were tame at one time. my preference is bandit,bandits and banditry.

forget about the "romance" of the lone highwayman... these are bandits, the roman method was about right. hunt them down and crucify them along the road.

My personal view of these home invaders is that they belong to a subspecies of the human race and therefore have no rights attendant to members of the human race. While the death penalty may not serve as a deterrent, it does serve a purpose in removing members of this subspecies, this less than human garbage, from this world. Unfortunately, juveniles escape the death penalty and provide the potential danger of being released only to murder again. This needs to be changed.

Once again this case is a reminder that law enforcement can not protect us, especially in our homes. It is an individual responsibility to protect ones self and family. Our right to self preservation and self defense is a God given right that NO government can take from us.

Elderly people are being targeted by these predatory animals. My father at age 84 is well aware of this and has prepared himself and home for such attacks. His silent alarm system will provide him warning of intruders and his ability with that old L.C. Smith 12 gauge double barrel will provide him all the protection he needs against the vermin of our society.

Helping our serior citizens to defend themselves against home invaders would be a worth while project for our pro-gun organizations. At the local level, gun club members need to volunteer their time to work with seniors. At least it would provide them with a fighting chance to live out their golden years.
 
I wish that she would have had 6 dobermen that hadn't been fed in a couple of weeks.

Feral is not a bad term for these "lice". By lableling them "feral" does that mean we can shoot them on sight? Or at least during the commision of a crime? Oklahoma has a in my house your butt is dead if I catch you law. It seems to have slowed down home invasions here.
