Holsters. The same old question, but different!!

I have a Gen 3 Glock 19.

So far I have a serviceable but rudimentary textile IWB holster.

Something a bit more effective at concealing would be nice.

It seems that most big mail order/internet companies will not ship even holsters abroad. However, someone I know is going to go to the US shortly (Atlantic City, if I recall). I asked if they might be able to pick a holster up for me and bring it back ti the UK so I can collect next time I visit. This should be all above board as it is just going to be a lump of leather or Kydex etc.

However, I want to make the job easier for them.

I need to know which holster manufacturers, with an IWB option in their product range would be stocked in major sporting, gun or supermarket Walmart type outlets.

Small companies are no good, regardless the quality of their product.
This must be a brand that this person can expect to easily find on the shelves of these sporting/hunting or Walmart stores.

My guess is Galco, Desantis, Bladetech etc.
Any others?

I can then trawl their sites for IWB model names and pass those on as a shortlist.

thanks!!

It might be helpful to do a little internet work and attempt to locate some retail stores that carry holsters in the area before your associates visit. Since the state of New Jersey is pretty tough on gun laws I am not sure how readily available accessories might be. Maybe some members from that area can offer some advice.

Anyway, two additional brands to research are Blackhawk and Fobus, also I believe GLOCK actually has a line of holsters.

The Walmarts around Michigan here do not have much of a holster selection. Maybe NJ is different. If there is a a Gander Mountain, or Cabalas or Bass Pro Shop in NJ, I suggest looking for holsters there.

Wally World? Enh. Most any of their holsters (and they do have some) will end up in the "holsters I don't use" box.

Again, have you check Midway's European dealers? There's one in Finland.

In fact, here you go: Bladetech IWB for the Glock 19, from Midway.fi, for 100 of them Euro things. I'll bet you they can get it to you.

Midway: worthwhile option, but I don't speak a word of Finnish!! I know that Midway UK was a waste ot time: they would not even post a copy of Lyman 49th edition!!

Truth is the Bladetech IWB Razor is sold by my local range, for €85. But they have been out of stock for well over 3 months now and I'm tired of waiting.

I just thought, seeing as someone is heading over there that I'd try my luck and probably save a few €£$ in the process.

If push comes to shove, I can give Midway.fi a try.

James, is open carry legal/gun exposed legal/printing in your country?

I say this because You could look at a hard Galco Plastic holster for your G19.

Depends on the store of course but maybe Gould & Goodrich, Safariland, Bianchi, Don Hume, Uncle Mike's, and Fobus.

From my personal experience --

Galco is good quality at reasonable prices. DeSantis has various kinds of holsters. I have a "Tuck This" econo model I've been pleased with (fit a couple of guns) and their outstanding Nemesis pocket holster.

Don Hume has good quality leather at reasonable prices. I have a couple. I have one OWB Gould & Goodrich (like). They tend to be more aimed at the law enforcement market but I've seen them in retail stores. Uncle Mike's makes economy holsters designed more for a range of guns, say medium framed 4 to 5 inch revolver. A last resort for me. Fobus is toward the bottom of the rung for Kydex holsters. I have one paddle holster that I don't care for but I'm not sure if it's because it's Fobus or because it's a paddle holster as it is the only paddle holster I've ever owned.

No experience with BladeTech, Safariland, or Bianchi. All have pretty decent reputations.

If your friend is going to Atlantic City, try Zeus Sporting Goods in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. They're only a few minutes outside of AC. Google them and you can get the phone number. There's no Gander Mountain or Cabelas close by.

I'm a geographic neanderthal

Actually my geography is pretty good. My hearing is crap:

Hes' going to PHOENIX, Atrizona!! P-H-O-E-N-I-X!

Is Arizona a bit more gun-friendly??

Phoenix is a very good place. HUGE Cabelas there that has a very good selection. Not as good pricing as on line I'm guessing.

AR is very gun friendly.

Doesn't Raven ship internationally?. Thought so. I'm planning on purchasing a G19 in the near future, and out of all I've read, the Raven Phantom seems like, IMHO, the most rounded option. They'll charge $25 for shipping (that includes insurance), but I think they're worth it. You'll have to wait for it anyway, however, since it looks like it takes some time between you place your order and when you actually get it at home.

I might be ordering the holster before I order the pistol .
