I have got a beautiful Galco leather holster for my S&W 17. It has an open bottom and fits any S&W revolver with K/L frame, of any barrel lenght, including the popular 686 I will get one day.
It is a right handed holster of the "strong side" type, that is my rev hangs on my right belly side
But I also like the "cross draw" style, with rev hanging on my left side (like seen in many western movies), so I made this simple and clean upgrade, just drilling a 5/32" hole in my belt and one in my holster, then mounting a 5/32" brass flat-headed leather screw
It looks and works good, and has been made in 10 minutes. Now I can switch between strong side and cross draw any time I want
