I have a 6" Ruger Security Six and am looking for an all day comfortable holster I can wear while hunting hogs in TX. Any opinions would be welcome.

try blackhawk sportsters holsters from wally world size 03 would fit a six in revolver, serviceable holster for the price. i bought 1 for my 4in security six.

I vote NO on the statement that "anything that fits a 6" K frame" will work for a Sec 6. A well fitted holster for a K frame will not fully accept a Sec 6. I have a 1/2 dozen of this size which don't allow the safety strap to snap on the Ruger.
For everyday or rough hunting use, I recommend a nylon form fitted holster like the Bianchi or if that is not available, Uncle Mikes will work. Hunter makes a leather holster which will fit because it has an adjustable safety strap. I carry a 6" GP100 in a Hunter crossdraw and find it quite handy when working or just walking the woods. I have a bum shoulder which makes drawing a 6" revolver difficult but the crossdraw works fine.

6" barrel med frame DA revolver holsters...

6" barrel DA revolvers are not quite as common as in the 1970s/1980s/1990s but you can still find a few well made field/outdoor holsters.
See these top US firms; Don Hume, Galco, DeSantis, Tex Shoemaker, Kirkpatrick Leather, Bianchi, Blade-tech, Blackhawk, Milt Sparks.
Unkle Mikes, Bianchi & Blackhawk sell budget type black nylon rigs.

ps; If you use a scope or like handgun hunting, you may want to check out the Bianchi shoulder holster designed by outdoor writer/hunting expert Dick Metcalf. It can be converted to a belt holster too.

Ok. Maybe not "anything" made for a K-Frame Smith&Wesson will work with a Security Six, but in my experience, every holster I've ever owned that was marked for a K-frame Smith & Wesson, fit my Security Six's just fine.

Personally for general field use, I'm a fan of Uncle Mikes Sidekick holsters.

Just give Rob Leahy a call at Simply Rugged Holsters. There is no need to cruise around looking for used holsters, holsters made for another model, or generic floppy holsters. You need something made for that revolver, something secure, fast enough, and comfortable. Just google Simply Rugged.
