Holster for Glock - "Get one made with Glock in mind"

I've seen many people on various sites state that when purchasing a holster for a Glock, that you must make sure to get one that was designed with a Glock in mind.

Why is that?

Since it's not like Glock is the only pistol that doesn't have a manual safety, what is it about Glocks that would cause people to say this? Sounds like a lot of people carry glocks IWB w/out any holster just fine.

That's because the Glock has a 5.5 lb trigger & no hammer, so the holster should enclose the trigger guard without any material close to the trigger. That's probably why the kydex & plastic ones are popular.

Is there a real safety issue there?

I thought that using a smartcarry or just a belt clip IWB was just as safe as long as you're careful not to let your finger inside the trigger guard when drawing.
