Holster for a Sig P226

I'm looking for a sturdy holster for my Sig P226. The accumold and Uncle Mike's don't fit right. I want it to cover most of the gun (out door/camping). Can afford about $30. Anyone with a good idea let me know if you could. Thanks!

I would think the current US military hoster for the Berreta 9mm would work. It isn't pretty but I use it for a lot of pistols. Regards, Richard.

Try http://www.fobusholsters.com

I git ine for twele bucks mail order and they
do a terrific job. Also they have the best
deal going on a paddle mag pouch. The Glock
pouch fits the 226 mags ( 9mm ) well.

TCW --- If you would like to double your investment in an unbeatable holster for your Sig, contact Galco @ www.usgalco.com and have them sent you a catalog (about $9.00) or check out some of the gun stores or sporting goods stores to see if they carry the Galco brand. I have Galco holsters for all 4 of my Sigs and 1 Glock. Invest with the best! You also mentioned you wanted a holster to cover most of your handgun. Galco make different models, so check out the one you like best. Good Luck

Have you tried www.ebay.com I've seen some very good deals on new and slightly used Bianchi military holsters. These run about $50 new but can be had for much less there. I'm impatient, so I email people directly and ask them what't the price. If it's a dealer they usually respond with a set price that's still a lot lower than the MSRP.

TCW,

Have you seen the holsters that Dillon offers? They are more than $30, but they are good leather holsters for a good price. I carry my 226 in a Master and like it very much.

The Bianchi made military holster for the Beretta will fit a Sig P226 though it will be a tight fit. Mine went in and I had to struggle to close the flap and struggle again to open the flap when withdrawing the pistol.

PJ11B3VF7,

Thanks for the heads up. I was only going by what Bianchi claims.

Take a look at www.auctionarms.com
Lots of stuff there and a good chance at picking up a holester cheap.

No flame intended Tecolote, just a statement from personal experience FWIW. :) Then again from what I've seen of these holsters, dimensions have been known to vary so.... Then again, I think that the Fobus line is great since I love the $15.00 holster I bought for my P226.

Tecolote, can I steal your signature, or at least borrow it. I need to quit going into gun shops. Thank God I'm still single, though the GF did buy me a BHP. She keeps that up and I'm marrying her.

Tecolote, PJ -- I believe you're both right. Last time I looked into the Bianchi holster there were two or three different models that =look= the same but fit different pistols. I bought one for the P226/P228 and it had a different Bianchi # than the one for the Beretta. That seemed a little odd to me, because the P226 and Beretta 92 are very similar in size and, let's face it, this isn't a tightly-fitted leather holster, but apparently there was some need for different versions of this holster to accomodate the different pistols.

PJ11B3VF7,

I didn't take your comment as a flame. I come here to learn and I appreciate those that share their knowledge.

JNewell,

Thanks for the clarification.

FWIW, a buddy of mine at the U.S. Attorney's office here in Philadelphia carries a SIG P226. He's a real SIG fan, he has a P226, P228, P229 and a P239.

When I was putting in my order for a Dillon 550B, he asked me to put in an order for a Master holster (to save on shipping). As usual for Dillon, order was received on time and everything.

He used his Master holster up until very recently -- while walking across a street his P226 fell out of his holster and onto the pavement! Minor finish damage to the slide and frame but he was rather ticked at the holster. He doesn't use it any more.

No slam on Dillon products but I think there might be better holsters for the P226 than the Master.

HTH,

Justin

TCW,
I carry my SIG P226 in a DeSantis Pro-Fed Paddle Holster. The main reason why I like this style paddle holster is that it is adjustable. You can loosen the screws and adjust it for a forward cant (strong-side carry) or rearward cant (for cross-draw carry). The Pro-Fed is made for a number of handguns. I can also carry my G23 in it as well. Regards.

For my 226 I use a shoulder rig from pistol packaging (a small shop, but great products)
Pistol Packaging (800) 545-8016

Or an Alessi IWB Talon holster. These are steam fit to a 226 frame, and fit PERFECT.
friction fit, so nothing to get in the way.

good luck..
