S&W M10-7 $300 pass, no wait a minute. It's nearly year end, maybe they want to deal. They're dying to sell me something. Okay, well how about the M&P. "What can you do on the price?" "How about $250?" "Naw, I can pick them up all day of the net for $130. I wouldn't go over $150." The man snickered. I shrugged and headed for the door. They pull out a Blue book. They offer $200. I head for the door. "How about $190? "I'll go $150, out the door." "Can't do that." "Well thanks."
So I'm half way across the parking lot when the guy comes out and asks me if I have my permit (NC stuff. Don't ask.) "Course." Will you pay the tax?" "If it is *TIGHT*, yeah."
The lockup is Perfect. No end shake. Perfect firing pin protrusion. Dust all over it. I run a swab through the bore. Perfect. I hem and haw. Okay, I'll pay the tax. $160 OTD.
They ask me if I want a box or something. I drop it into my holster(Left my carry gun in the car). They freak. I show them my CCW.
On detailed inspection, there's some surface rust on the side plate under the Hoague grip and on the normal grip area toward the mainspring. Inside is immaculate. Fired it this morning. At 25 feet it shoots point of aim a group that can be covered with a half dollar.
I didn't exactly steal it, but I came out okay. Now what do I do about the rust? It's in a hidden area mostly. It could probably do with a refinish job.
