Hogue Wood Grips.

Hey Guys,

I've got a S&W mod. 65. (square butt) Currently I have Hogue Combat grips. The grips no longer fit flush against the back strap of the butt frame. So I'm thinking it's time to replace them.

I'd like to get a nice set of wood grips. I've been looking at the Hogue wood grips like these http://www.hoguestore.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=22_36_88_251&products_id=1089

I was wondering if anyone has any feedback about the Hogue wood grips or has some other possibilities.

Thanks all!

Best thing that ever happened to the Weigand "Tame the Beast" conversion of Ruger's .357 SP 101. Between the Hybraporting and this grip full house .357 Mag loads shoot like .38 Specials.
I tried Hogue rubber grips, Eagle SS grips and Badger grips before settling on the Hogue Monogrip. It fits my hand perfectly.

YMMV

Wow, I have Hogue wood grips on a few of my N frame S&Ws but I have never seen a set on an SP 101. Those are extremely good looking wood and I'm sure they feel much better than the factory grip. You have excellent taste.

Those SP's look so much better with those hogue's . Those factory grips are just cheap and hideous looking. I don't know what Ruger was thinking. I need some of those for my S&W 13-2.

Hogue wood grips are neat and look nice.
But that means nothing.
Grips must fit the hand. Pretty doesn't help at all.
I went through almost a dozen grips when I first got my Ruger Redhawk in .44 mag., including Hogues. None fit, several were painful when shooting.
Finally settled on Pachymar Presentations. Soft, but not too soft, tacky but not too tacky. Best of all they fit and were comfortable to shoot. As I did many-many thousands of rounds.
Perfect for me. But, may or may not be for you.
That is why good gun shops have 'try' displays.

There is a local gunshow coming up in June. So before I buy, I'll be there digging through 100's of vendors looking at grips.

I've used Pachymar grips before and didn't like the feel. The current Hogue Combat grips I've had on the gun for 15 years. They are starting to show wear and tear finally. It was an everyday carry for about 5 years. So I figure that after they've held up and I've gotten my moneys worth out of them.

Thanks for the input guys!
