Hogue rubber grips and Marvel Mystery Oil?

Will MMO hurt Hogue rubber grips?

I was cleaning my MilSpec .45 this evening, and I gave it a final rubdown with MMO as I do occasionally. Really makes the parkerizing look great, but it makes me wonder if the two are compatible.

i'm pretty sure hogues are resistant to even gun cleaning solvents.i've used them on paintball guns and hanguns and never had a problem with them.

Marvel's Mystery Oil is about 80% kerosene, with some additives to help break up carbon buildup. It probably doesn't do the Hogue rubber any good, but I doubt it will harm it.

BTW: I do the same with my S&W model 28 (dull blue finish), but I remove the Hogues 1st. It really does help the looks...

I used to use Marvel Oil on the exterior of all my blued guns...handguns, rifles and shotguns...great finish preservative, IMO. I never noticed any degradation of any rubber grips or recoil pads or, for that matter, any adverse effect on any wooden stock or grip finish...I'd still be using it if I could find it easily at a local retailer....mikey357
