Hogue Monogrip question

Pardon me for hijacking this thread, since the OP was quickly answered.

I have the Hogue grip that came with my 686-3 that I want to eventually replace with some nice wood stocks. Are there any particular considerations I must make in this replacement? Is removing the monogrip a user-level task?

One screw & one crosspin.
If you have a screwdriver of the appropriate size & the ability to tie your own shoelaces, you should be able to handle it. :)

The cross pin in the bottom of a S&W revolver does not need to be removed. The U-shaped stirrup is just sprung apart and lifted off it.

Now, Colts are a whole other story. Lots more work to install the Monogrip and you have to replace a pin, IIRC, prior to again installing any factory grips. At least that is the case for the D-frame Colts.

Bart,
You're right, started out thinking Colt, had Ruger in mind since I've done it on those three times recently. :)
On the Smith just the screw & the bracket.

Only have Hogues on a couple Smiths.
