Hog hunting tips?

I wanted to go hog hunting soon and to be honest, I've never hog hunted before and don't know very much about it at all. Could someone please give me some tips? I will be hunting from a stand using a Mosin Nagant 7.62x54R.

I've seen a few in the woods around my house. I won't be shooting any further than around 50-60 yards. Pretty accurate ;)

Okay, hogs in general have poor eyesight, but their sense of smell and hearing can get you if you aren't careful. They aren't quite as astute as a whitetail, but just don't get too loud or quick with your movements. Still try to be downwind of them. I prefer to take neck shots on hogs. It leaves all of the meat, and it leaves the hog DRT. A wounded hog is a dangerous hog, and I hate tracking a possibly dangerous hog.

Use some Winchester soft points for the 7.62x54r and carry a pistol. I am always happy to see someone hunting with the Mosin Nagant.

Big boars most times are alone, so if you see one shoot him. Whereas sows and smaller boars tend to run in packs, so when hunting from a stand take your time and let them gather and pick the one you think best for eating. After your first shot, quite often they scatter all different directions. Sit and wait bc they will try and regroup within 10 minutes or so and you can get another shot off at a galloping hog.
