Ok my local shop has an HK91 Preban in. (Yes this is a REAL HK not a copy) It comes with one 30 round mag and is in 90%+ condition. Bore looks almost new. It has been well taken care of. Asking price is three grand and he said he would throw in five 20 round mags for another hundred bucks. So is this a good deal. I don't think I can afford it even though he said he would give me an exteded layaway. But I may seel some things off if I think I could get it and if this was a good price.
Thanks all.

Kevin Where is it made? If it is German it is about what they are going for. The price will only go up. Some HK91s are made in Greece or Portugal among other places and are not up to German quality. The 5 20 rd. mags may not be worth much more than $10 each if they are made by USA or Portugese. It should be a great investment and is a great shooting rifle.Check out www.HK91.com I think it is still up.

Oh I also forgot to mention that this one had the colapsable stock on it. Although I thought it looked like it would be a tad painful to shoot. Thanks for the info Skeeter. Yes it was German Made I believe.

They're usually going for $2400-2600 here, but the collapsable stock will kick it up $400.
I paid $1K for mine ten yrs ago and thought that was too much. They're a great rifle. You can probably do better on price if you shop around a bit.

About $2200-$2400 is right. A character on the HK-91 board was pricing his 91A2, that had more accessories and mags, for around $2100.

The telescopic (A3) buttstock is brutal.

The collaspable buttstock is not placed in the "pocket" of the shoulder as for a regular buttstock. Rather, it is shouldered near the top of that pocket (almost at the very top). Once properly shouldered, the felt recoil is no different from the regular fixed stock HK. Improperly placed, it is brutal.
