hk40c mags in hk9c

I have heard that you can take 10 rnd hk 40c mags and fill them with 13 rnds of 9mm and use them in a hk 9c. I hear this requires no modification and works flawlessly. Any truth to this? What about the legal aspect of it?

Do NOT use a magazine in a pistol that is not specifically designed for it.

You are begging for trouble.

beats me. i know it would be illegal, though. i have, however, heard that you can put 12 rounds of 9mm into a kel-tec p40's 9 round mag.

My comment is in regards to functionality, not legality.

You would have a magazine manufactured after 1994 that was loaded with more than 10 rounds of ammunition, certainly grounds for a case even if it is a little shakey. I imagine it would be classed as a conversion in just the same way that removing the restrictor would be. I'd be surprised if magazine width and the gap on the feeding lips didn't lead to at least some FTF problems anyway. It's a bad deal whichever way you look at it, if you don't feel confident in terminating any given threat with 11 rounds of 9mm , change the gun not the magazine or carry reloads. Don't get me wrong, I think the mag ban is a sick joke, but like other sick jokes, sometimes they get elected.

I was thinking about this. I have some hi-cap USP Compact 9mm mags, and have seen some 10 round USP Compact .40 mags. The 10 round .40 mags have a plastic spacer at the bottom, while the 9mm's don't. Assuming they are the same width, you shouldn't be able to fit 13 rounds of 9 into that mag.... even if it was legal.

Do you mean 12 rounds of 9mm in the .40 mag? People have done it with the full sized and reported no problems. Would be very hazy in terms of legality, however, as technically there is no physical magazine modification involved.

Guys,

The BATF has successfully made this case in court. It is illegal to use mags not designed for a weapon for the purpose of exceeding the 10 round limit. This is not drafted in the 1994 crime bill but federal courts have upheld charges filed by BATF. The keystone for the judgment was the “manufacturing after 1994 clause”.

So guys plz don’t do it. Don’t provide the BATF any more ammo than they already have. The crime bills will sunset in 2004 so use this to convey a clear message to politicians to, not renew the clip ban in 2004.

So would using Beretta 92 high cap mags in their compact pistols be against the law? How about using S&W M59 mags in the Kel Tec pistols(or whatever those pistols are that will accept them)? What about modfying the mag catch on a Kimber polymer wide body to accept Para ordnance high cap mags?
Also, I have heard that the high capacity magazine ban will never "sunset" but that it would have to be repealed while the "assault weapon" ban will expire if not renewed. Anybody know for sure?

The mag ban definately sunsets in 2004. The only thing we need to do now is stop a democrap from drafting a new one.

As long as the weapon and mag in question was manufactured before the ban you are fine. It’s items manufactured after 94 that will get you 10 to 25 years in a federal penitentiary.

If in doubt, call the BATF they will send you a list of exempt firearms and a list of restricted firearms.
