I have been looking at one for a while.Read some reviews and watched some videos about them.Does anyone have first-hand knowledge, pros or cons?
Any info.would be appreciated.

Several folks over at the sigforum.com have them. Seem to be nothing but praise. Trigger seems to be almost as good as the Walther PPQ which is damn good, phenomenal when you consider it's just tactical Tupperware.

I've had a VP9 for about a month. I like it a lot. I think the stock VP9 trigger is an improvement over the stock Glock trigger. I also think the VP9's ergonomics with the adjustable side panels and backstrap are an improvement over Glock - even the Gen4. Yes, you can do trigger jobs on a Glock and customize / stipple the grips on a Glock but the cost of these mods and buying a Glock would end up costing more than the VP9.

The VP9 is going to give Glock, M&P, XD, and other makers of striker fired guns some serious competition. I think that's good for those of us who like striker fired guns.

I have 9 Glock pistols and have no plans to sell them. I still like Glocks. Having said that, based on what I've seen so far, I think the VP9 is at least as good as any Glock I've owned or shot. Looks like HK has a real winner with the VP9.

I have one. I have the LE model with night sights and 3 mags. I honestly believe it is the best striker fired handgun out there. Super accurate, great trigger, good sights, amazing ergos.

I have a VP9 and it is a terrific pistol. I also have a Walther PPQ which is another terrific pistol and IMO these two are in the very top tier of SF pistols these days.

As always see if you can try whatever you are considering and purchase what works best for you.

Good luck.

Magnificent. That really looks like a great handgun.

I haven't had the pleasure to handle one, but if it rivals the PPQ then it sounds great.

The G19 was the king of the striker fired 9mm, this is better.

No, I think the PPQ is/has been better than the G19 for a while. The problem here is price point. When deciding which poly auto to buy I shot a bunch including the G19, PPQ, M&P, and XD pistols. The Glock and PPQ were close but the PPQ was better. The problem for me was price point; and unfortunately that's compounded here by the "HK" logo on the side of this gun.

I don't think the G19 will be unseated anytime soon, unless it's closest direct competitors bring the price point down. I paid $450 for my Glock, I would have gladly shelled out a little more ($500-$550?) for a Walther or HK; but it was a LOT more for the Walther, like 100 rounds of ammo more; like the cost of a CPL application in MI more. I just couldn't swallow it.

You have a PPQ and VP9? I'm interested to know how they compare; especially what makes them different. They look remarkably similar.

IMO the PPQ and VP9 are more alike than different. of course I am not talking about internals, etc but from a shooting/handling point of view.

They both have very comfortable grip with changeable backstraps. The VP9 also has changeable palm inserts. The VP9 has metal sights while the PPQ has poly sights but the rear sight on the PPQ is adjustable and the sights on the PPQ are much easier to change out.

They both have excellent triggers but IMO the PPQ has a little better trigger as far as reset and crisp release. IMO the VP9 is a bit of a softer shooter than the PPQ but for me they are both soft shooters and for me both a total joy to shoot. Both the VP9 and PPQ are mechanically extremely accurate from all the tests I have read.

The VP9 is somewhat longer, taller, and heavier than the PPQ. That may make a difference to someone for CCW.

The PPQ has matching slide release levers on both sides while it is curious that the VP9 has different style slide release levers on each side. I have read reports of more than a few right handed shooters having a problem with the slide not locking back on the last shot with their VP9 because they were touching the slide release lever while firing. I personally have not experienced that.

The VP9 has the dumbo ears for slide racking assist. I have found myself actually liking them. They are poly and can be removed but first the rear sight needs to be removed. HK is going to sell flush fitting inserts for those that do remove them.

The Walther PPQ has versions with the European paddle type side release and also the more popular USA push button slide release. NOTE magazines are not interchangeable between the two.

Here is a recent review of the VP9 where the reviewer also compares it to the PPQ.

Cool, thanks man!

I wonder if one design is qualitatively superior?

I loved the PPQ and went with something else because of price; but taking a long view a PPQ or a VP9 could be in my future.

Other HK's I have shot have just melted into my hand, accurate as heck and easy to control under fire.

I've had mine for a while now and really enjoy shooting it. Great ergonomics and an excellent trigger. I personally think the trigger is every bit as good as the PPQ. The variety of back strap and grip panel combinations make this a very easy pistol to set up for your own hand and shooting stye. The VP9 is worth getting not because of its reasonable price, although that's nice, but it is very well made. I own quite a few HK pistols and this one is easily the most adjustable platform HK has made to date. I still carry my HK45C, but I take my VP9 to the range every trip I make. I'm thinking of mounting a 530 lumen Streamlight to its rail and using the VP9 as my home defense gun. It's well worth the asking price. :D

Have had a PPQ... I now own 2 VP9s.

The Walther is a nice gun, but the palm swells on the left and right sides of the grip hurt my hands, and I just don't see it having support in the long run after the M1 to M2 fiasco. Imho, doesn't hold a candle to the VP9.

The VP9 isn't perfect though. The capacity should be 17 instead of 15, and the mags are stupid expensive. I also wish it was a smidge more compact.

However, the HK mags are plentiful compared to PPQ availability. I do really like the standard sights. They are a bit gimmicky, but they're also very useful while I save up for a set of Trijicon HDs. The sights also blow what comes standard in the PPQ out of the water. I'm also a fan of the charging "ears."

I am a RO and have shot or own them all. The PPQ and VP9 are THE top tier of the current striker fire handguns. I currently own a PPQ for the last few years. Simply brilliant right out of the box. I can't recomend the VP9 or PPQ enough.

$36 is the cheapest I can find for a p30/vp9 15rd mag. Where are you finding them for $34? Coming from the world of $22 glock mags, yeah, $36 is stupid expensive to me.

Then you should only ever buy Glocks, as many other manufacturers come in right at that price. One mag is mostly polymer, the other is a steel body.

I've held the VP9. I think it feels and looks really nice. The trigger is great. That said, I think people are really quick to crown a new king when that new king is unproven. Yeah, HK tends to make pretty bulletproof stuff, but there's no company incapable of turning out a stinker now and again. To trust a gun, I need it to have been on the market for a decent chunk of time and tested heavily.

In other words, it might be the new G19. But it isn't yet.

To early to say with the VP9 being a new design.

The PPQ is basically a slight variation of the Walther P99 that has been around about 17 years I believe and is an extremely proven German made pistol.

I highly adore both. Between the two I slightly favor my PPQ more.

Magazines are readily available for the PPQ for usually around $32.

Coming from the world of $22 glock mags

Where can I Get those mags, most Glock mags are $35.00

I paid that much for one of the 9 round, flush mags for the 30S that is more concealable for special occasions.
