HK VP9 vs Walther PPQ vs SR9C

I am looking at another 9mm. I am curious about the difference between the HK VP9 vs Walther PPQ. I am also looking at Ruger SR9C. I know that the SR9C has an excellent trigger and can be used as either compact or range gun. I know that the two German madel pistols have a great reputation for quality, and also have good triggers. However don't know much about either. Thanks for inputs and experiences (pros and cons)of these pistols.

All three are good models. I place the PPQ and VP9 as two of the top four or five striker fired models currently available and I'd go with one of those two from your list. Here's my take on the small differences between the PPQ and VP9. Ergonomics are a draw for me. Both have comfortable grips that can be adjusted with the VP9 having more adjustability. Trigger wise are close as well. I like the reset on the PPQ much better and from my experience the pull is a little better on the PPQ as well. Both are fully ambidextrous but, I like the mirror image slide lock/release levers better on the PPQ opposed to the VP9's that look more like an afterthought. I like paddle magazine release's better than the button. I prefer the VP9's slightly over the PPQ's. You can get button release on the PPQ in the M2 which is not available on the VP9. I like the fact that the VP9 shares magazines with the P-30. Hopefully this drive the cost of magazine down some in the near future. The PPQ M1 and M2 magazine do not interchange. The PPQ and the current P-99 do interchange. Ascetically speaking which is a much less important factor to me goes to the PPQ.

YMMV

I am not a huge fan of the PPQ trigger. To me the VP9's trigger is more predictable. Also are you looking at a PPQ M1 or M2? I like the M1 and VP9's mag release best. I also had a bunch of P30 magazines so it was a no brainer.

Get a VP9 and dont look back!

No experience personally with the ruger, but I hear excellent things.

I don't own thew Ruger and have not shot one so I can't comment on that.

I do own both a Walther PPQ M1 and also a HK VP9. Both are terrific pistols that are a lot alike in so many ways.

I have a slight preference for my PPQ because I prefer the trigger on it, I prefer the slide release levers, it is a bit lighter and smaller than the VP9, and I shoot it a bit better than my VP9.

Was in this situation myself this past summer. Settled on the SR9C. Glad I did. Very reliable, easily concealable, and that trigger is phenomenal. It's my everyday carry gun now, displacing my long serving jframe in .38spl.

To me the VP9's trigger is more predictable.
The difference between the poundage to pull the first stage takeup and the second stage release is more pronounced on the VP9. It is better for staging the trigger but if you are doing a straight pull through like on a glock trigger it tends to pull me off target more than the less pronounced difference on the PPQ.

+1
The VP9 is great, but the PPQ gets my preference.

I have experience with most other HKs, the PPQ and SR9c. The Ruger is significantly inferior to the others based on my experiences. You can search for my posts on this.

The PPQ has a very high bore axis, which makes recoil significantly worse than some other guns. Other than that, it is an outstanding pistol. The trigger may be too short and light for some people's carry preferences. I carried one for several months and now carry a Glock 19.
