HK USP9c vs. P7m8 recoil

I read in several threads about the gas retard system of the P7M8 and how it absorbs some of the recoil. I've noticed when I shoot my USP 9c it has less perceived recoil (softer) than my P7M8, yet I'm more accurate with my P7M8 (seems to have more recoil and muzzle flip). Any one with the same experience? How does the accuracy/recoil/muzzle flip compare to a Tactical or perhaps a 1911 (thinking that my HK's need new playmates). :D

I'd think the P7 would have less recoil than the USPc for two reasons: the gas system is supposed to absorb some of the recoil, and the P7 is heavier. I've found my P7M13 to kick less than my USPc 9mm.

Haven't shot a P7M8, yet ... that being noted, I would second branrot's comment, re: the heavier P7M8.

FWIW, I can compare a H&K USPc to a Walther P99 (both in 9mm). I found the USPc has more muzzle rise ... enough to be entirely noticeable, but not necessarily bad either. Felt recoil seemed to be the same, though.

The recoil of a P7 pistol is *different* from that of traditional type pistols.

Most traditional pistol types have a recoil that causes the muzzle of the gun to flip up.

The gas delay system of the P7 causes the recoil to be directed straight back into the shooter's hands. There is much less muzzle flip and much faster sight reacquisition.

Some people feel that the P7 has no recoil because there is no muzzle flip. One fellow who shot my M13 thought that the recoil was quite violent...he wasn't expecting the P7 type of recoil.

That said, I feel that the recoil of the P7 is much more controllable than that of the traditional semi-automatic.
