HK USP40c Mag Release Question

I have seen several posts regarding hammer strut damage caused by the new HK locking mechanism. If the pistol is locked, an attempt to pull back the slide will bend the hammer strut. The bent hammer strut rubs against the magazine, interfering with release when the slide is back or the hammer is cocked.

I am pretty sure I don't have this particular problem. My magazines will "push out" (via spring action)when the slide is closed, but will only drop freely when the slide is back (no spring pushes it out). Again, the magazine drops freely, so I don't think the hammer strut is bent. On my Sig P239, a spring pushes out the magazine whether or not the slide is forward. Is this a design feature or do I have a problem??

Both of my USP's will drop the magazine regardless of the slide position.

Yours should too. If this is not the case I suggest you take it to an HK armorer.

NRA? Good. Now join the GOA!

The NRA is our shield, the GOA will be our sword.

I'll third that.

The mags are supposed to drop free, UNLESS there is something (like your palm on the baseplate) preventing them from doing so. In this case, the mag should release, but stay in the mag well. Nice feature, IMO.

Good luck... you might want to ask on the hkpro.com board, as there are several trained HK armorers there.

I....what....fifth....that? Mine drop out freely no matter where the slide is. I agree with CMOS and krept, take it to an HK armorer or ask them questions about it. Good luck!
