HK USP Stainless

Fellow Shooters,

I've been kinda lusting after a HK USP Stainless model that my dealer has in his case. It comes with one LEO/Military 12rd Magazine. It is a previously owned pistol but it doesn't have much use if any. The dealer is advertising it as a "used but unfired" weapon. Checking the weapon over doesn't show any obvious wear marks on the barrel hood or magazine lips, so I pretty much believe him to an extent. I'm sure it's seen use, but very limited. It seems to be an older weapon that was stored for some time. There is a slight rust spot on the barrel crown. A bit of steel wool and spot blue should clean it up nicely.

He wants 600 for it, he did want 700 but he had no takers. I suspect it has something to do with him not wanting to sell the weapon sans LEO magazine. I'm going to give it a month and if he still has it, offer him $550.

Is this a good deal?.The local dealers are crazy wanting upwards of 750-800 plus for USP's. I have no idea what the "normal" market would bear.

Also...I would like some input from owners of the HK full size pistols.

Thanks ..

Well I paid 525 about 3 years ago for a usp9f not stainless but still worth every penny.
So far i have between 45-50000 rds through with not one misfire of any kind and no replacement parts.
I love it and i tend to use it over glocks and beretta's its my favorite gun so far and it will be your also :D

Red,

If you're not Military or LEO, you won't get the benefit of the 12 rounder, so don't let him count that in the price....

Around here, new USP's are around $575 - $650 in HE finish, and usually $50 extra for stainless, IF you can find 'em.

I personally think that the Stainless USP is THE best looking polymer pistol there is, (even though mine's HE)

As for if it's really "unfired", the locking part of the barrel is the best way to tell... (yeah, I know you're gonna eat me alive for forgetting what it's called, but it's late, and I'm still at work because we've had an ALL SITE OUTAGE!)

Any way, when an HK is fired much at all, the black coating on that DARNED SQUARE THING on the chamber end of the barrel (locking block?) gets scratched on the side, and in very short order you have a silver line just under the serial number.

Heck, if you can afford it, BUY IT! You won't regret it. But I'd start out at $500 and stop at $550.

I just recently purchased a brand new H&K USP fullsize 40 for $575. That was after an extensive search of local gunstores, and was by far the best price I found for the gun in my area, and I had to drive 2 hours to get it. And it was well worth it! I love this gun.....I have put 500 rounds through it so far without a single hitch, and it is an extremely accurate gun. I would highly reccomend this gun to anyone!

Take care!

Onslaught..

I know what part you are talking about, just forward of the chamber section of the barrel. I checked there and found no significant wear other than what you would get from racking the slide.

I will try to talk to him about the LEO mag. I'm in Corrections so in FL I'm technically LEO, but still I don't want to have to give up the magazine when I eventually leave the dept. I should be able to have him take about 50 off the price w/o the mag. Either that or get it anyway and sell the mag to someone in LE and replace it with a regular magazine. ..............

Hopefully the .45 shoots better than the .40 model that I tried. I recently went to the range and shot my fathers USP .40 and I didn't really like it. It had a bit more recoil than I would expect from a full size .40. Go figure.

I need to move down to where you guys are at!! Here in Panama City they want 600+ for a Glock and 300 for a Keltec P32.

Good Shooting

One thing to consider is that the stainless models have been discontinued. So they may begin to appreciate a little as the supply dries up more (like the match has).

Two questions:
1. What caliber is it? (I'm assuming .45 w/ 12 round mag)
2. Is the mag marked LEO only?

According to my HK catalog and price list, the full-size stainless USPs have been discontinued. GET IT QUICK!;)

1. Yes..it is a .45 Auto. I somehow neglected to mention that.

2. I checked and the Mag is indeed stamped Military/Law Enforcement use only on the front face of the magazine.

I might swing by there next week and put some money down on it. Either that or the G30 I was looking at from another dealer.

ohhh Decisions, Decisions.....

Good Shooting

That's a good price. I'd buy it.

Trust me, if it's from Germany it HAS been fired.

I love these ads on GunsAmerica.com and other sites claiming that their Walther, H&K, etc., has "Never been fired, absolutely NIB"

Anything coming from Germany, Austria, Italy, Belgium, and several other European countries has been fired at least twice.

I don't mind spending a little extra for a gun, but it's all the better if you do get a phenomenal deal. That being said, I did get a phenomenal deal on my blued USP 9mm Compact. I paid 500 bucks for it, new in box, never fired (if it was fired, it sure looked brand new and i'm pretty good at that stuff), with 3 10-round mags, a fobus holster and a fobus double mag pouch.

Redlg155,

BUY THE GUN!! I recently purchased a USP.45F a couple months ago. ABSOLUTLY LOVE IT!!! Just passed the 2000 round count last weekend without any problem at all. None, nada, nothing. Eats everything I feed it. The smoothest shooting .45ACP I've ever handled, and I shot a lot of different .45's before I settled on the USP. The gun is more accurate than I am, at this time. Which is fine by me, because I love shooting this gun and I just get better with each trip to the range. I bought the HE model, I like the all black look of the gun, but Chipperman is correct about the SS being discontinued. In time it more than likely will become a collectors item and $600.00 is an excellent price, much lower than what I paid for my USP two months ago. Go for it, you wont be disappointed.

Flattop

Sounds damn high considering the mag is LEO. Around here a brand new SS .45 is $550 to $575. My USP9 SS was $540 brand new. A buddy had a USP45 and sweared it was the most accurate gun he ever owned. I want the USP 45 Expert my dealer has.

According to one of my dealers (who is also L.E.) if the magazine has been originally bought by l.e., it is ok to sell to civilian. Myself, I go by the proposition that any law that is contrary to the consititution, is null and void. Anyway, if you live in Florida, I would go with the H.E. finish as it will not rust like the st. steel. Just my thoughts on the manner. I don't let the Feds dictate to me what I can and can't have, do, etc. Hell, I am their boss. They aren't mine.
