HK USP Compact in 357 Sig

I am thinking of buying one, variant 9, for cocked-and-locked carry. Does anyone have any experience with the H&K in 357 (any variant - I know 9 is unusual)? I owned the full size .45 some years ago as well as the compact in .40 and liked both. My concern, I guess, is whether the 357 round creates any problems for this particular firearm. Thanks.

I tried one a couple of years ago. Very controllable, not much recoil, loud as a banshee. I'm actually thinking of getting one myself, now that Barsto is making .40 barrels for the compact. I've come to like two caliber pistols.

I shot one in October of last year. It functioned perfectly and was very accurate.

I have to be honest and say that I found it an extremely unpleasant pistol to shoot. I did 50 rounds of Lawman through it and was glad when the last magazine was going in.

Recoil was stout, but blast was horrendous. Also the serrations on the rear of the grip left deep indentations in the web of my right hand that looked and felt close to bruising.

On the other hand, I have had e-mails from a US Marshal who has one as his daily carry piece loaded with Gold Dots. He told me a story of an off duty officer who happened upon an armed liquor store hold up, he shot at the perp once through a bullet proof perspex shield, the round went right through it and killed Johnny Felon stone dead. Gun and round involved were USPc .357Sig and Gold Dot. No mention was made of the condition of the officer's hearing post shoot

An awesome combination if you can come to terms with the blast and kick.

I have two USPc's in 357 SIG. I have just over one thousand rounds through one without a single problem. The other one is unfired NIB. Yes, the grip is quite abrassive, but after a few range sessions my hands became calloused in the right areas and were OK. I also have a Glock and a SIG 229 in 357 SIG and the HK kicks the worst of the bunch. Having said that, I'm most accurate in rapid fire with the HK.
