HK USP 45 Slide Finish Problems

I purchased a new HK USP 45. After I wiped off the factory oils from the slide, I noticed that there were many imperfections in the finish where you could actually see bare metal. H & K has subsequently sent me two more new guns as replacements. Both exhibit the same problem. Has anyone else experienced this with a new H & K? I am quite disappointed with the lack of QC from their factory in Germany.

I also purchased a HK VP9 and the finish is perfect.

Pictures please.

Two more new guns? You mean they sent you one, it also had the issues, so you got another one sent to you?

Pictures please.

Yes, this. I have a hard time believing this. The VP9 is also made in Germany. The German QC is pretty much always on point. I might buy that you got ONE gun that had poor finish....

Receiving THREE USP 45's that had improper slide finish is approaching infinitesimal possibility. Additionally, HK would rarely just send out another brand new replacement gun, let alone 2 brand new replacement guns.

We definitely need evidence to support these claims.

Yes. I have had a total of three guns, two sent from the factory, with slide finish problems. My VP 9 has a perfect finish on it. HK's customer service rep basically acknowledged there are issues and he has done his best to resolve it with me. Nevertheless, I still have a gun with a very poor slide finish.

See attached photos. It looks worse in person. Imperfections are all over the slide. This is just one sample area. I received this gun from H & K this week. Number 3. Totally unacceptable.

That's not a really good picture. I think I see some streaking up near the front, but the whitewash from either the flash or the ambient lighting makes it near impossible to see.

In the 12+ HKs I've owned I haven't had what I would call finish problems, but then again I am not 100% sure to what level you're talking. Frankly idk what to tell you. If HK can't remedy it, I doubt this forum can.

edit: your more recent photo upload shows it better. Not sure what to tell you.

P.S. - Are you not in the US? The CIP over N proofmark is not one I'm familiar with.

I was just curious if anyone else has seen this problem. For what these guns cost the slide finish should be perfect. I do live in the US.

Thanks for the pics Alanser!

That is very surprising indeed. I hope they get you taken care of. My USP 45 is a 2006 model and it looks great aside from slight color fading in the high spots as normal.

I did have a 2013 USP 45 Tactical that was also perfect but I sold it about 6 months ago. I just like the standard better.

I would not accept that either...

Seems HK has someone sleeping on the job in their QC department.

Really makes one wonder about that.

You would think that someone at HK would personally take the time to inspect the replacement being sent to the OP to make darn sure he got one that was 100 percent.

First I have read or heard about this problem though with new USP and a LOT of them were purchased in the last couple months during the rebate.

Yes you would think that they inspected these before the were shipped. The customer service rep said they closely inspected the third gun (noted in the attached photos). I just bought a new Glock 21 Gen 4 and the finish quality is perfect and the gun was $250 less than the H&K.
