I finally found this board !!!

Anyone out there have a MK23???

I have one with over 20,000 rounds through
it and have had no problems what-so-ever.

It is a bit big, but it shoots very well.
Any thoughts on this "Battle Axe"???

Well......Icopy
What is your experience with this????
Do you shoot it any different than your
other guns, any problems?????
Have you used this for hunting??
Any input would be nice,
as I don't see any MK23's around these parts.
Would you register it if you had to???
Always willing to learn something.....
thanks

My experience with it is that it is one hefty gun for my puny handy.

It is different from my other guns in the way described above AND it is the only one with a flash suppressor AND classified as an Evil Assault Weapon.

I have not used the 23 or any handgun for hunting.

It is registered with the government of the great state of California.

Get the flash thingy from CCF, it looks cool and seems to reduce muzzle flip.

Plus, in the PRC, what else are you gonna put on those assault threads.

What's up Dakota! I've had mine for 8 or 9 months now and love it. I shoot 185grn JHP reloads at about 925fps out of mine. I have been curious to ask other MK23 owners this question. Can you feel the slide cycle with every shot? On my 1911 and my USP45F I can't, but with the MK23 I can. A very strange feel. Do you normally shoot hotter ammo through yours?

I've owned my MK23 for about 3 years now. I love it. Personally, the weight doesn't bother me at all. It looks heavier than it really is. I'd say my 1911 with S&A magwell weights about the same. Keep in mind, this weapon is not meant for concealed carry. It's main purpose is to remove human obstacles swiftly, effeciently, and, if need be, quietly. It balances nice. The sights are superb and well regulated. The grip is a tad big for small hands. But you have to remember this gun is made for Special Forces units, many of which wear gloves. So the grip is fine in that respect. I have never used it for hunting, but I suppose you could as long as the 45 caliber is appropriate. The accuracy is a little scary. Mine's dead on at 25 yards. Recoil is minimal. The ambi-safety is nice and you can carry the weapon either cocked and locked or with the hammer down. The decocker is easy to use and is much quieter than the decocker on the USP series. One feature I love is that you can manipulate the slide eventhough the weapon is cocked and locked. I live in a state where you don't need to register guns. So that question doesn't apply. The barrel is threaded and I have tried flash suppressors/muzzle brakes. They work fine, but I prefer not to use them. The accessory rail allows the attachment of lights and laser from various manufacturers. I have only used the light system from Wilcox. It adds a lot of weight to the gun, but reduces muzzle lift to zero. The newer MK23s have a silly locking device in the grip. I'd avoid those if you can. Just doesn't seem right on gun of this nature. Go to www.hkpro.com and explore the links section. You'll find website dedicated to the Mk23. Overall, it's a fine weapon. Many people bash it for being too big and clunky. But everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
