HK mag construction problem (.45)

A buddy and I have had USP .45 mags start to malfunction (on different occasions). Upon inspection of the seam on the back of the mag, we noticed that the welds on the top dove tails had failed and the two sides misaligned therefore causing the rear of the casings to hang up.
It is not a severe problem (thank God, because these mags aren't the cheapest), as the mag can be emptied and the two sides realigned easily. Upon reloading it feeds fine, but I expect that the problem will arise again with all the shock from firing and mag drops to the ground.
We plan on finding someone who can spot weld them to keep them from separating again.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I have a USP .45 and haven't had this problem. But, I've only fired around 700rds. It's something that I will look at and dread happening. Thanks for the heads up. Oh, is this the full or compact .45? I have both so I need to know which one to expect this from.

These would be the full size .45's. Two of mine and one of my friends have had this happen :( They do get abused with some dropping. They all have the exact same spot affect the malfunction. Upon looking at my other mags, that top weld seems to be the thinnest, least visible one(maybe ground flush  whereas the other welds seem a little more beefy. The broken weld is cracked pefectly along the seem of the two edges.

I may check with HK this week to see about the mag coverage.

I have four of them, and all function flawlessly.
I NEVER drop them, however. Sorry to hear about your problem. Let us know if HK covers replacement.

This is a common problem with USP full size 45 mags---happened to both the mags that came with mine and my dealer confirmed he had seen many returned due to this problem.
